Historical Figure Wednesday: Albert Einstein

Hello everybody and welcome back to another edition of Nations Made Fun! I’ll be your host, Mr. Nations, your tour guide to this massive world we all call home. Today on Historical Figure Wednesday, we’ll be looking at a true icon, Albert Einstein. Let’s get right into it!

Albert Einstein was a physicist who developed the general theory of relativity. He is considered one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century and is an icon worldwide. He was a German mathematician and is world renowned for his theories of relativity. He won a Nobel Prize for his explanation of the photoelectric effect in 1921. About a decade later, he immigrated to the United States after he was targeted by the Nazi Party.

Einstein faces many challenges in school, mostly due to the fact that he would skip classes to study independently on subjects that fascinated him. After graduation, Einstein found work in a patent office as a patent clerk. While working in the office, he had time to reflect on the ideas that had taken hold of him while working elsewhere. It was here where Einstein thought up his theories of relativity.

     Fun Facts:
  • Einstein renounced his German citizenship and was officially stateless until he earned Swiss citizenship in 1901.
  • Einstein had a 1,427 page FBI file. The FBI started making a dossier after his third trip to the United States.
  • Einstein offered his Nobel Prize money to his first wife so she would agree to divorce him.
