  • Bird: Cardinal
     Fun Facts: 
  • The first sales tax was implemented in West Virginia on July 1st, 1921.
  • West Virginia has the oldest average age. The median age is forty.
  • The first federal prison exclusively for women was opened in West Virginia in 1926.
